About
Ironwood Press
Ironwood Press is a family-owned press based in
Tucson, Arizona, for the past 10 years. Our company name is inspired by the
native ironwood tree, Olnea tesota. Our goal is to emulate its
characteristics: tough and resilient, adapted to grow in difficult
conditions, bursting into bloom just when it begins to get hot. Owners are
Scott and Michele Millard.
Scott
Millard has an extensive background in book publishing as a writer,
editor, photographer and designer. Scott was formerly editor of the HPBooks
gardening series and edited several of the original Ortho books. During the
past 25 years he has contributed to more than 35 gardening books, including
co-author and contributing writer of four Ironwood Press titles. (Meet

Michele
Millard, business manager, manages the accounting and book fulfillment
at Ironwood Press, making sure books are shipped and billed accurately
and on time. Michele and Scott live in Tucson.

In
Remembrance
Eric A. Johnson, co-founder of Ironwood Press,
passed away September, 1999, at the age of 86. Eric enjoyed a long and
fruitful life as a landscape designer, grower, writer and consultant. He
provided the horticultural heart for Ironwood Press, authoring or
co-authoring four titles. He was a generous teacher and mentor to many.
As we watched him work tirelessly and with such joy, all of us wished
that we would be able to live a life as full, as long and as rich as
Eric’s. We miss him dearly. |
